About

Our Purpose…

LLM is regulated and certified to provide services for an individual with intellectual disability or a developmental disability under the 907 KAR 1:145 Supports for Community Living Waiver in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Lord’s Legacy Life Ministries believes we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus by helping participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities become active participants in their lives. We believe that God directs each of us to love one another and serve others just as we desire to be served. We embrace our purpose by building relationships with our participants, their families, and our communities. We are committed to investing our time in services that work by making a positive, and measurable difference in people’s lives; in turn showing, unconditional love and acceptance.

Our Organization promotes programs that are person centered and result oriented. We have found, that when services are individualized, our participants can truly improve their circumstance, develop their potential, and become self-sufficient. Measuring progress of our growth development is essential in providing the best services in which we are capable.

When providing services to an particpant, LLM uses a community inclusion concept as a solution to the traditional institution living.  We are committed to investing in services that work by making a positive, measurable difference in people’s lives and, in turn, impacting communities.  Measurable results within a community that demonstrate positive outcomes include: safer neighborhoods, a more productive work force, higher contributing citizens, more successful students, and a better quality of life for community residents.  To achieve the community inclusion concept, LLM must continually provide education to the community.  Only when society fully accepts disabled participants as equals and empowers them to participate in the life of the community will inclusion be realized.

Most importantly, LLM strives to achieve two main goals when supporting a participant:

  • LLM is Person-Centered: We aim to help our Consumers solve their problems, improve their circumstances, develop their potential, and become self-sufficient.  Every type of service that is provided to participants is individualized to their preferences and differs greatly from one person to the next.
  • LLM is Results-Oriented: We measure our results by the progress and success of our consumers.  We believe in the empowerment of people with disabilities.  We respect an participants’s right to privacy, the right to be treated with dignity, and we value personal differences, preferences, and aspirations. We are here to identify options and present those options to our consumers.

Our History

LLM’s founder, Jeanene Mader, and her family have been actively involved in supporting participants with disabilities.  Their family home, in fact, has been a “safe haven” for those in need. In 1996, the Maders opened their hearts and home to a wonderful young lady that was left abandoned and homeless after a life-altering car accident.  She was immediately loved and soon became an addition to their family when Jeanene legally adopted her.  After years of trying to find the best types of support in the community, Jeanene discovered that the appropriate supports and services that her daughter needed were not as readily available as they should be.  Because of her conviction that every person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, she was determined to make a difference!  In 2007, Jeanene founded Lord’s Legacy Life Ministries and began offering Residential Supports, Community Living Supports and Adult Day Training supports to those in need.  The rest is history…

Leadership

Jeanene Mader
President / Founder

Jeanene Mader resides in Nicholasville, KY with her husband and soul mate, John Mader. They have three daughters: Heather, MegAnn, and Dawn. Jeanene has been active in the
business world for 25 years, having owned two businesses and managed large retail chains. Jeanene is also an ordained minister, seeking to lead people to Christ through the revelation of the gospel.

In 1996, Jeanene and John met Dawn, their third daughter. Dawn was homeless at the time and had survived a car accident when she was younger that left her with an acquired brain injury. The Mader’s adopted her and began the journey of finding quality supports. Jeanene saw that the need to show the disabled community their potential and value was great. In 2007, Jeanene opened the doors to Lord’s Legacy Life Ministries. The organization has since become a beacon of light to families and participants were they come to challenge themselves, grow in their faith, and learn independent living skills that will benefit them the rest of their lives.

After spending 40 years wandering as an Israelite lost in the wilderness, God revealed to Jeanene that it was her purpose to serve the intellectual and developmentally disabled population. This is her mission, her mandate, and her life.

John McCurry
Executive Director

John was hired into the LLM family in March 2010 as a Direct Support Professional.  From the beginning, John has been outstanding in all capacities of his position.  His passion to provide the best supports to our individuals is evident through his communication, relationships, and generous heart.  After obtaining a Bachelor degree in English, John was promoted to the position of Community Services Director. John was then promoted in May of 2014 to the Assistant Executive Director position where he continues to strive to glorify God. Through word and deed, John has since stepped into the Executive Director role. As of May 2016, John aspires to lead this ministry towards the excellence of Christ.

Kelsey Cheek
Administrative Assistant

Kelsey joined the LLM team as an Administrative Assistant in July 2017. Originally from Ohio, she graduated from Ohio State with a degree in Criminology and Clinical Psychology. In April 2014, she cut her Buckeye ties and moved into Wildcat Territory. She quickly realized donning Scarlet and Gray is not quite accepted here in the Bluegrass. Thankfully, her husband and Kentucky’s endless supply of BBQ help her feel right at home. Kelsey’s passion for encouraging and serving others is what ultimately led her to Lord’s Legacy. She is looking forward to building meaningful relationships with the participants, her co-workers, and loving others as Jesus does! In her free time, you can find Kelsey reading, crafting, hiking, or spending quality time with her loved ones.

It was clear from the quality of supports she provided that she held a love for her job and the mission of Lord's Legacy. In May of 2014, April moved to the position of Office Administrator where she now effectively enhances supports for the entire organization. April is an uplifting presence in the office, always giving a positive word to those around her and seeking to better herself and others through love, hard-work, and dedication to the mission of LLM.

Daniel Ross
Day Training Director

Dan Ross, a.k.a Dapper Dan, a.k.a Captain America, a.k.a the Day Training Director, joined the ministry in the summer of 2014. Coming into the ministry, Dan wasn't sure what God's call was on his life; however, he knew he wanted to serve others to the glory of God. Dan was formally a minister at the University of Kentucky, where he graduated with a degree in Social Work.

MegAnn Lilley
Public Relations Director

MegAnn began her journey with LLM in May of 2008. She originally served as Direct Support Staff and was quickly noticed for her remarkable service to both participants and families. In 2009, Meg was promoted to Administrative Assistant and was largely responsible for the atmosphere of welcome and warmth when first entering LLM facilities. In 2014 Meg began to utilize her talent for networking and hosting events as the Public Relations Director. Meg’s background is in evangelism and missions. She currently leads devotions, prayer, and scripture readings in LLM’s Revival Center; hosts all major LLM events; and spreads the word about Lord's Legacy's mission to the community. With Christ at the center of her life, she embraces positivity and compassion in her service.

Paige Moreland
Human Resource Director

Paige Moreland joined the LLM ranks in September of 2015, after a rigorous hunt for a Human Resource Director. Prior to coming to LLM, Paige worked at Walgreens for 13 years. She managed multiple staff across multiple stores and has brought that experience, along with an incredible heart to value and cherish the LLM team, with her.

Laura Gabbert
HR Assistant

Laura began her service here at LLM by first serving in the field of Community Supports. She allows her light, compassion and heart for others to shine so brightly. In her words, “I fell in love with my job and truly enjoyed working with my participants. Some days were challenging but overall there is so much reward and great feeling, I knew I wanted to continue working for LLM for a long time!” Laura says that in her new position as the HR Assistant, she is excited to build relationships with the admin team and grow closer to God by serving Him through helping the community here at LLM. She is happiest when helping others and as the HR Assistant, she will be able to fulfill her desire to assist/help others. Laura’s favorite scripture is Micah 6:8. The Message version reads, “ But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don’t take yourself too seriously – take God seriously.” You can find Laura enjoying time with her fiancé and their animals. She loves the outdoors and visiting her parents at their beach house. LLM is so excited to welcome Laura to our Admin family and to the new position she will be embracing! We are so blessed to have her!

Shane Warta
Community Supports Director

In October of 2015, Shane came to LLM to interview for the Community Supports Manager position. Shane has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership. His strong faith, heart for the population we serve, and his leadership skills are very apparent. Shane came to us with both experience and heart! While being in the position for a short time, Shane has recently been promoted to Community Supports Director. Shane has developed this department with skill and prayer.

Christine Endicott
CS manager

Christine came to us from Wilmore, Kentucky. Christine enjoys time with her husband and children, being out in nature and watching old movies. She comes feeling not that she chose LLM, but rather, LLM chose her. Through months of prayer and feeling the Lord guiding her in our direction, she is settled in now as the Community Supports Manager. We are absolutely thrilled to have Christine a part of our LLM family! She posses much strength, including: Communicator, Strategic, Relator, Responsibility, and Discipline. What a wonderful addition to the CS department. She says that her favorite things about LLM are both the Co – Workers and the Participants. Christine is a team player and she loves engagement along with development. She has chosen James 1:2-4 as her favorite scripture. “Consider pure joy whenever you face trials of any kind. For you know the testing of your faith develops perseverance, and perseverance must finish its work so that you are mature and complete, lacking in nothing.” She says, “I like this verse because we will never be truly mature and complete until we reach Heaven. It is a reminder that our time on earth is temporary. It is also a reminder that trials make us stronger. If we just rest in the Lord and rely on Him, we will come out of each tribulation more prepared for our final journey to meet Him.” We are thankful to have Christine with us and can’t wait to see what the Lord does through her in the lives of our participants!

Courtney Hagenbach
Residential Manager

Courtney has a passion for folks with intellectual differences. She is full of life, energy, and puts her heart and soul into whatever she sets her hand to. She was looking for a company whose culture and mission connected to her love for Jesus. She said, "I prayed that Jesus would lead me to a place where I could be His hands and do His work, a place where I could love and lead by His example." She takes the time to pray through circumstances and as a residential manager, we believe she will lead in this department with discernment and wisdom! When asked her favorite scripture,“The Lord has made everything for his own purpose. –Proverbs 16:4 This is my favorite verse because when I fall short and I try to make my own plans and get upset when things don’t go "my way". This verse reminds me that God created me for His purpose. I know that fulfilling that purpose is the greatest achievement that I could ever accomplish and that it would glorify God!” Courtney is married to her sweetheart and their daughter is the apple of their eye. In her free time, you can find Courtney crafting, reading, traveling and of course, spending time with her family. We are thankful to have Courtney chose to have us as family!

Tracey Smith
Residential Assistant

Tracey chose LLM in order to make a difference. She value giving participants the opportunity to achieve their goals and dreams within the community. Tracey began her service as a DSP, serving in Residential she proved that investment and long term support truly makes a difference! She has shared that one of her favorite things about LLM is being able to pray with and over each participant and staff. Her favorite scripture is within 1 Thessalonians 5, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as you are doing.” Tracey has turned to the spirit of encouragement many times over within her life. She loves being able to speak life and build others up. In her free time, you can find Tracey spending time with her family. She enjoys swimming, traveling, and watching her nephew play sports. We are honored to have Tracey serve within the ministry as the Residential Assistant!

Priscilla DeFini
Compliance Officer

Priscilla was initially hired for our Adult Day Training Center. After serving faithfully through that season, it was time for a change in her role as part of this family team. She said, “I truly began to believe in the mission and treasure the opportunity to work as part of a community that is doing its best to live out the gospel through mutual love, support, and transparency.  Finding that anywhere else is pretty hard.” As the Compliance Officer, she will be focusing on assuring that all we do as a ministry stays in compliance with our state’s regulations that govern the services we provide. Priscilla often finds herself re – reading the scripture, Ephesians 3:14 – 19. She says she loves the phrase, “Rooted and established in love.” When she thinks of this verse, for her it brings to mind the images of plants growing in the richest soils. She believes that God has transplanted her into the rich soils of His love, which will provide her with the nourishment she needs. This is her go – to verse. Lastly, she is an incurable lover of stories, whether movies or books, even fairy tales! She loves a good mug of tea, surrounded with good conversation and dear friends. We welcome Priscilla to the Administration side of running the ministry and couldn’t be more thrilled that she chose us to share her many gifts and talents with.
