services on a waiting list with ten year expectancy for acceptance.
■ Our government on a state and federal level is on a tight budget
and must set priorities.
■ Medicaid is a lifeline for persons with mental retardation,
Medicaid not only helps pay for medical expenses for most adults
with disabilities, it also helps pay for their services.
■ These individuals are facing a critical time with Medicaid cuts
and Medicare prescription drug upheaval. (Not everyone is entitled
to services).
With these facts before us exemplifies our community to act
immediately. We can act by responding here at home. We can stand as
a community and prove that disability issues of our state is a
priority and that it CAN be put in the forefront of a statewide
political agenda.
